Should I be worried ? My 14 month old babbles loads but that’s about it! I keep trying to get her to copy words or animal sounds but she just laughs at me, my son has autism so I think it’s in the back of my mind 😫

Sounds like a normal thing to me. Its the early stages of growth for the child.

Has she had her 12 month check @hol92and can you remember how she scored on the communication section? Has the HV said she will see her again?

As you probably know ASD is very hereditary and the HV really should keep an eye in her but that doesn’t always happen.

@SleafordSodsyeah she didn’t score too bad! The things that she was doing the HV just said she will probably do them in the coming months (gestures etc) she is now doing some of those but not continuous and she still doesn’t clap 😫

she’s so different to my son in a lot of ways, she passes me things, answers to her name, simple comands like no, but because there’s things she’s not doing I have this fear the things that she does do will just disappear and she will regress, I’m going through a bad anxiety patch with worrying about my son at the moment so this is just adding to it

I can totally understand you being worried but she’s not regressed yet avd hopefully won’t.

If you are worried though you could speak to your HV and ask her to assess your DD again?

It might be worth filling in the two Ages & Stages before you speak to her though.

Here’s the 14 month Ages & Stages

And here’s the 12 month social & emotional Ages & Stages.
