I have a 7 & a 4 year old DD, and bed time is so difficult. I’m sick of watching films where they read a book to the kid and everyone falls asleep.
we finish dinner and all go upstairs, I nag DS a gazillion times to put his pjs on whilst I chase the younger one around to put hers on - I try to read DD a story, but my DS is hyper, and disruptive- I tell him to leave but he ignores me.
Eventually get DS to go to his room, when I go to tuck him DD is out asking for a drink or this or that - and vice versatility like yo-yos until I absolutely snap and shout at them.
I know they are both doing it to get a rise and get attention , but I am spread so thinly - just a rant really! Wonder if any other single parents out there have found a hack? I’m thinking maybe DS just watches tv - but then can’t imagine DD would think it very fair she has to go to bed earlier.
they stopped mucking around at about 9pm tonight and that wasn’t even that late for them - I feel like this is waaayy to late especially for DD - bed time process starts at 7pm - lights out at 8 .
