well the title says it all. I try not to sware in front of her, but thinking did i get annoyed and use that language and she latched on to it. i told her off but wondering now if i should have ignored it? anyone else been through this? Or is this a very uncommon?

I think I could put up with ds (4) saying 'fuck' occasionally. What is really very wearing is his obsession with saying 'idiot' constantly whenever he disapproves of anything or anyone...so I switch off the tv - idiot he scowls, and I tell him it is bed time idiot he retorts, then he stubs his toe on the bottom stair idiot he exclaims. And on and on and on

in return for having an - alarmingly long - list of Words That Children Are Not Allowed To Say, we also have the phrase "silly sausage" that she's allowed to call us, but we can't retaliate. she gets entertainingly outraged if we forget

...but she's listening....

People's standards vary. Some friends looked mildly shocked when DD (then maybe 5) announced that she'd been 'doing that flipping thing' before we came out. Until she demonstrated what she meant ... a sort of flipping thing....

well this has been a rude awakening. dd is now repeating what is going on the house, luckily nothing scandalous happens here, but she is obviously watching and repeating everything. Luckily they repeat everything good too, so will have to lead by example! the joys of motherhood. PS thanks for defending me, I'm not swearing willy nilly in the house it was probably after a toe stubbing incident, but i will have to learn to just 'breath heavily'
