23m old only speaks to family/at home

As the title says really...our 23m old boy is doing reasonably well speech wise, he probably has 150+ words, learns new words every day, and continually says 2/3 word sentences, but really only speaks to us/close family, and mostly just when at home. As soon as we are out with other friends/children etc he can go hours saying barely a word. Nursery says he does say some words there (though nothing like at home), and he's very happy and social there generally, but I can't help but worry. Dr Google has shown me lots of things about selective mutism, but don't know if he's too young to be worried about things like that. Has anyone had similar and did they grow out of it or need some further support?

Ours talked nothing at that age and it was a thing till end of nursery, we went to speech therapists etc and they gave him very bad assessments, like he is in bottom 0.5% etc and we were really worried.

In the end we did nothing and now at 7 he talks too much and does well in school as well.

Thanks @worrying99. I know they all develop at different rates, particularly with speech. I'm just concerned about his unwillingness to speak outside the home/family, it just seems unusual. Would love to know if anyone else has experienced similar.
