16 month old and tightening limbs and clenching teeth

Hi All,

Hope you and your LOs are doing well.

I am a first time mum to my 16 month old LO.

Recently, he has been doing this thing where he suddenly tightens and stiffen his arms and legs and tries to straighten his back while doing so. Like he will tighten his limbs while trying to stand upright fast if that makes sense. I'm sorry I'm not good at explaining.

He also will come to me sometimes and pinch my hand while clenching his teeth hard while watching something.

He so sometimes does this thing where he brings his fingers into a curved shape (think when you pretend to be a lion and do the rarrr signs with your hands) and he does that for a few seconds and he kind of shakes when he does that for a few seconds and back to normal again.

All of this has been making me worried.

I went GP and took my phone and showed the recordings of several instances. She has referred him to a specialist but in the meantime I'm just really really worried.

A big part of me is blaming myself for having very hard meltdowns and emotions during pregnancy and especially the last month or two of pregnancy due to abuse and pain surrounding this so I cried a lot. I tried my best to keep healthy and not cry for the whole 9 months but cracked at the last stage that breaks me till this day. Because of all this I blame myself for these things I've noticed in my son.

Other notes:
He was a full term baby.
He also can't speak yet.

Please send any advice my way.

Honestly it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about.

it sounds like he’s trying to communicate in the only way he can and is getting excited.

Thank you so much for your reply. I really hope it is just what you're saying. Googling things just does not make anyone feel better 😢
