4.5 month old with 98th percentile head - wobbly/heavy when sitting up?

DS had a huge head at birth and it has consistently tracked at 98th percentile.

When I sit him up (e.g. in between my legs), he still can’t hold his head steady. It’s wobbly. And sometimes he holds it looking down rather than chin up. Is this because it’s heavy compared to the rest of him?

Weight and length was about 25th % at birth but has steadily increased to about 60th% now.

Just seems like he’s the only one in antenatal class who can’t sit up unaided and has poor head control!

Hmm, he comes out quite well on that, it is literally just that ‘holding the head steady’ question on the Gross Motor skill section that’s a ‘no.’ I see it does go up until 4 months 30 days so he still does have another fortnight I suppose!

If anyone else has a large headed baby I’d be so interested to know if it was the same for you?

Well that's reassuring. Let's hope he masters it in the next couple of weeks Wink

Does he get enough tummy time? This will help strengthen his core to help him hold up his head properly.
