Hi. My four and a half year old daughter is very afraid of getting her eyes wet in the shower. It's really hard to understand as she doesn't care about her eyes getting wet while going swimming.
When washing her hair she will cry, moan and cause the most ridiculous amount of fuss in an attempt to avoid getting her hair rinsed. This usually goes on for around half an hour or more, and it really upsets my wife.
We have tried using those eye guards which go round the head, she still makes the fuss. We have tried giving her goggles, no better. We have of course explained that eyes need to be wet and tried getting her to explain why it's so scary, but she either can't or won't tell us.
Does anybody have any practical advice to help us please? Ideally we would like to understand her behaviour, but would settle for anything that lets us get through a shower time with less stress. Thanks.
