Am I making my toddlers tantrums worse?

My 21month boy has recently become extremely clingy in the evenings when we come home from nursery or grandparents. It’s been like this for almost 3 weeks now.

Meal times are hell - won’t sit in his chair and screams to sit on my lap which I’ve allowed once or twice just to stop the screams and eat my own food.

I can’t cook because he won’t let me put him down (even on his kitchen stand and I try to involve him)

Even as I write this now he’s kicking off because I haven’t got one hand around him cuddling. It’s intense and just all round draining.

It’s becoming so frustrating, my husband and I are at our wits end with it, the evenings can be so miserable.

I know it’ll be a phase but what’s best? To allow him the closeness he’s demanding to avoid him stressing or building negative associations? Or to stand my ground and allow him to tantrum whilst we do stuff? He does get extremely distressed if I’ve left him to tantrum - bangs his head against things, throws things etc

Please help! 🆘

He's so little still I'd let him cuddle. Sounds like he just needs done reassurance.

One thing I would do though is check to see if his second set of Moses are coming through Flowers
