Baby head lag at 4 1/2 months

Hi all,

Would appreciate some advice on this.

My son is 4 1/2 months old and he has quite noticable head lag. He was born at 36 weeks and was on the low centile charts due to gestational diabetes.

As in his head movements would be considered “floppy”. He is able to move head left and right and will turn his head to follow me as I walk around the room and does appear to support his neck briefly but then will dangle his head back or forward as if he has lost control of it.

During tummy time he tends to just lie there with his head down.

I have tried laying him on his back and pulling him up into a seated position. When I do this he does appear to support his neck but on the way back down he seems to let his head flop back again.

He has an appointment at the end of November with the doctor so I will bring it up to them but at the moment I am quite concerned.

Hello,
@TheCleverHiker
my baby is the same. Doesn’t hold head up during tummy time, also has head lag when pull to sit. Also when being held upright and facing outwards his head flops forward. So worried!
how is your LO now?
