2 year old suddenly scared of loud noises & children

My 2y4m old has suddenly become extra sensitive to loud noises. They have always been curious about loud noises, such as the blender - wants to see. Hoover - wants to help. But have never seemed scared

Picked them up from nursery this morning and the worker commented that DC seemed to have taken a dislike to the loud children and those who used excessive noise to communicate. Tended to avoid them and was asking lots of questions

Doesn’t become hysterical but you can tell DC is fearful / wary. For example on bonfire night wanted to watch the firework but jumped at the bangs

Also now not a massive fan of our dogs barking and will run to me for comfort. That’s maybe been happening for a couple of months

Any insight? Can they suddenly develop a dislike for loud sounds? What can I do to help?

Makes me chuckle as DC is currently laid in their bed supposed to be napping and is screaming twinkle twinkle at the top of their lungs haha

Also should add, DC has probably always been a bit cautious of loud children. A random scream would sometimes send them running over to me for comfort. Or a loud car passing etc
