Quick straw poll - is there any correlation between early walking and being sporty?

My dd3 has just started taking her first independant steps. She is 9 months.

According to a family member, this means that she will be sporty - i remain a little at that, lol.

I have a dd1 who took her first steps at 10.5 months and walked at 11 months and a dd2 who took her first steps at 11.5 months and walked at 12 months. Now out of the two, my dd2 is more sporty up to now (rode a bike earlier, learned to swim earlier, etc) although dd1 has her own sport which she excels at, she doesn't do well in other sports for example, she can't run to save her life, lol.

So the theory doesn't really work with my eldest two. What are your experiences? Does early walking = sporty children?

Just curious

No, I don't think so I'm afraid. My daughter was walking properly (not holding the furniture) at 11 months.

She was the first baby in my post-natal group to do so, which prompted some gritted teeth from a couple of the pushier mums.

Like me, she is truly awful at sports.

Conversely, she was the last to talk. We used to wonder whether she ever would. Then we wondered whether she would ever stop talking. Still wondering.
