Adults who were long sighted as children

Hi, I took my 17 month old to an eye appointment at the hospital today as I’d noticed some turns in her eyes, and have been told she’s long sighted (+7) and will likely need glasses for the rest of her life. I’m wondering how wearing glasses is going to impact her life going forward? I’m worried this will affect her self esteem…and her social development and others perception of her.
please can I have the honest truth so I can think how to combat?
thank you so much

Hi 👋

How is your daughter getting on?

My son is longsighted (+6.5) and has been wearing glasses for just over a year and seems to be doing really well but I'm having a bit of difficulty getting him another eye test and don't know where to turn. He sees someone in Orthoptics fairly regularly and they're telling me that unless they feel it's necessary, he won't need an eye test but it's been just over 12 months now and I don't know whether that is correct or I'm just being fobbed off. The Optician where I get his glasses from are quite shocked that he hasn't had another eye test yet. I was just looking for someone in a similar boat to see what your experience has been and whether I should take Orthoptics word for it or not 😫

DD who is also long sighted has had an eye test every 6 months since it was discovered.

She also has Astigmatism so as she grows she needs regular checks as her eye shape changes.

Id not be happy if she’d been left over 12 months.
