My DD is teeny for age, she's lovely and kind and at home she's mad, charismatic and so so funny.
But out and about in toddler groups or in playgrounds she's so very shy, she will often let bigger kids barge past or just plain push her over. Even if another child approaches her in a friendly way and tries to hug her or hold her hand she just freezes. If someone takes a toy from her she just looks at me all panicked, wanting me to get it back for her. She has a few close friends who she is way more confident with and she bosses her older cousins and siblings around a treat so i don't think it's particularly in her nature to be shy and retiring.
Any tips on building up confidence? When a child takes a toy off her (in a baby group setting for example) do I step in and take it back for her? Do I tell her to go and get it herself? I just basically want her to stand up for herself and not get walked all over. She's not in nursery yet which I appreciate might be relevant.
