Do you think a baby being unwell can delay milestones?

As above really.

I have a baby who is a bit behind on moving and babbling, but who has had 8 emergency hospital admissions for bacterial infections and also surgery.

has anyone noted that there is a link?

In sure I've heard that it can sometimes cause a slight delay. All of that sounds like you've both had a difficult start. How old is he now @Frillytrousers? Flowers

Undertreated reflux and undiagnosed allergies caused my daughter to have delays. At 17 weeks she scored very poorly in her 4 month assessment. She didn't respond to sounds, turn to voices or smile. She went on high dose reflux meds and I started excluding her allergens within a week she was doing much better and by 5 months she scored perfectly averagely on her assessment. The drs think she was just too distressed to engage with the world and for growth.
