Hello,

I have a really happy, chatty & loud daughter at home. On holidays she goes up to other kids or strangers to say hello, she waves at strangers ect. But when we go to playgroup she sits on my lap the whole time and cries sometimes.

I feel like I’m tormenting her by taking her. She warms up literally 15 mins before class ends. And i am seeing improvements week by week. But the first 30 mins she’s literally sad.

My question is, should I give it a break and stop taking her for a bit or persist and try to help her develop her social skills?

One thing that helped my DS was going early so you're one of the first to arrive. He seemed better if most of the other DC had arrived after him than walking into a full and busy room.

I'd still take her, but absolutely let her sit on your knee with a favourite toy and reassure her whilst you chat.

Thank you so much, that’s a good point about walking into a whole group of people. I’ll try a cuddly toy too x
