When would you take your child to a very cold country?

Before DD was born my partner and I went mainly to cold countries on holiday (Iceland, Norway, Finland). We now have an 18 month old and would love to take her to Lapland where it is stunning in the Winter. Obviously she is a bit young to appreciate it now but what sort of age do you think it's ok to take your child somewhere very cold? Would 3 be ok do you think? (Obviously she will be dressed appropriately) She loves being outdoors in the snow, rain, wind, whatever! My husband runs very hot and she is just a mini him 😂

Obviously I understand babies are born in cold countries and are fine etc but I just wondered if anyone had any personal experiences particularly of Lapland and what a 'good age' would be. TIA

(I'm from southern Sweden, but have been to the northernmost parts of Sweden several times. I do not have kids, but my advice is:)

You seem very enthusiastic and well prepared.
If your daughter loves the snow, I think you can travel with her to northern Scandinavia/Finland during the winter as soon as you like!

Just be prepared that it's very dark up there during winter (but you probably know that already). In the northernmost parts, the sun does not rise at all in the middle of winter. But you have the chance to see aurora borealis!

Good luck, and happy travels!
