When should ds be out of nappies at night?

DS is 3 1/2 and has been toilet trained through the day for a good while. Hardly ever has accidents. He wears pull ups at night still and goes to the toilet as part of his routine before bed - doesn't wake until between 6-7 am and his nappy is full so not sure if that's from during the night or could be when he wakes I suppose! Is there anything I could be doing to help or does it just come with time? We've never pushed anything and just encouraged him to go with it when he's ready but not sure how he could be dry at night if he's not waking to use the toilet! Maybe it's an age thing?

At around this age we swapped the pull ups for a cloth nappy. We already had some do it didn't cost anything.

DD was quite adamant that she didn't want the nappy on but she was dry after two nights.

It's difficult for them in pull ups because the don't feel wet, they definitely do feel it with cloth.

It might be though that he's just not old enough yet.

It is a hormone thing and until that hormone kicks in they won’t be able to do it.
we told DD that when she goes a week with a dry pull up in the morning then she could stop wearing one. She managed this at 5 years and we’ve had maybe 4 accidents since then and she’s now 8.

DS is just 4 and we told him the same but he can currently only manage the very occasional dry night at the moment.

Thanks for the replies - Really didn't realise it had anything to do with hormones! He's only young and we weren't in any rush so I'll see how he goes. Thanks for the info 🥰
