Is this a sign of autism?

My DS is 7 months old and is a happy, content little boy. He seems to be hitting his milestones .. babbling, sitting independently, weaning great etc. Only thing I think he's a little behind in would be he's rolled maybe 3 times total (about a month ago) and has made no further attempt since.

The thing that causes me concern (mostly because of falling down rabbit holes on Google!!) Is that he very often twists his wrists round and round .. especially when he's happy, excited or agitated. One search on Google and its telling me it's stimming and that it's an early sign of autism. I am now officially freaking out and wish I never looked.

Any thoughts? Especially reassuring ones 😅😅

It can be, yes, but at 7 months, it probably isn't, especially if he is otherwise developing well – it's probably just him exploring how his body works. A lot of things that are potentially signs of autism in older children are typical developmental behaviours in babies and younger children.

I wouldn't worry about the rolling either if he's doing other gross motor skills like sitting and pushing up during tummy time. Some babies roll all over the place and others just aren't fussed.

Thank you for your reply- I know I am very likely panicking over nothing x
