Daughter cannot tolerate having any part of her legs uncovered

Any tips on how to get my 8 year old daughter over wanting to have her legs covered at all times?! It’s 30 degrees - she overheated quite badly on Monday due to wearing long thick socks and leggings at a club she went to (I hadn’t realised she had such long socks on!) She just can’t seem to get over needing her legs to be completely covered. To school she usually wears leggings under her dress. In this heat I’ve managed to persuade her to wear shorts instead but she has to have long white socks pulled right up to touch the shorts! This morning we didn’t have any long enough white socks - all in the wash - so she had to wear slightly shorter socks exposing 5cm of leg and this caused the mother of all meltdowns. She was screaming as loud as she could (very unlike her) and tears were rolling down her face as she just couldn’t cope with it. She now hates Summer and I just really need some tips on how to get her over it? I’ve explained it’s hot and I can’t let her overheat like she did on Monday but it’s not helping? When I ask her why she says she just doesn’t like it, I’ve asked if it’s what they look like or what they feel like and she just says she doesn’t like it, that’s all I get? This has been going on for a couple of years now but is getting worse.

My best guess would be that it's something sensory that she really doesn't like (really, really, really doesn't like, if it's causing uncharacteristic meltdowns). For now, I'd assume it feels absolutely horrible and look for alternatives.

What about a jumpsuit/playsuit with long legs? Lots of shops should have lightweight summery ones in. Or very lightweight woven trousers like https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1010262015.html or https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0924086041.html (nothing specific about H&M, it's just somewhere I found that sort of trouser before). Or I've found Primark's leggings quite thin, if she doesn't like that looser style.

3-pack joggers - Light pink/Unicorn - Kids | H&M GB

Joggers in an airy viscose weave with elastication and a decorative bow at the waist. Side pockets, tapered legs and covered elastication at the hems.

Aw thank you for your help. She won’t entertain wearing anything that doesn’t stick tight to her legs, but I’ll definitely try Primark for thinner leggings as the ones we have are so thick!
