i personally believe that a parent to a child up to 16-17 should be held equally accountable for their child’s actions.
example:
- Boy of 13 stabs another child at school
- girls bullying or attacking another such as https://news.sky.com/story/a-child-is-going-to-lose-their-life-sickening-trend-of-children-filming-attacks-on-other-kids-12866916
in all crimes, I personally think the parents need to equally be responsible as well as be held accountable for the same crimes when brought to courts.
the reason being is that especially from 0-14, to me it really is simply the parents upbringing. A disturbed child who attacks or kills hasn’t had the right upbringing and I feel of there was equal accountability, parents and those wanting to be, would think twice if they were clearly told that they would hold equal responsibilities for crimes for child commits, at least up until 14-16.
and yes I’m also including parents/guardians being in court standing by their own child.
in addition, it may make some couples wanting kids to think twice about having them in the first place if they can’t be sure they can’t raise kids in a healthy environment with enough time spent to not have them commit serious crimes up to 16-18.
the linked sky article shows specific kids who are all participating and filming and many physically attacking and the parents of these kids are absolutely equally to blame. In my opinion. Good parents don’t raise kids like this.
what is your take on it?
