Help!! My 17month old has vomited everyday for 3 weeks!

Hi,

I’m desperate for some help! I’m a first time mum and my 17 month old has started being sick everyday for nearly three weeks now. He’s very down in himself and not wanting to play just wanting to cuddle all day long. The sickness is very sporadic sometimes before food, sometimes while eating and sometimes hours after or even in the middle of the night. I’ve been to the doctors twice and was first told it might be down to constipation. We have started some laxatives that have definitely helped with the constipation, but still being sick. So back we went this time before maybe reflux which we have started medication for this too, but still being sick. I’m completely lost and don’t know what to do. I’m so sad seeing him not being himself. I would just love some answers. Or to know I’m not alone in this.

What is he eating?

It might be helpful to keep a diary of absolutely everything he eats and drinks (and also note the times he vomits)

Could it be a temporary dairy/lactose allergy?
My 12.5 month DS caught gastro recently but after the initial v&d stopped he was still being sick every day for almost a week afterwards. I found out that sometimes they can get a temporary lactose intolerance after having viral gastro so we cut out all dairy and the vomiting stopped straight away. We then tried lactose free milk, which he was fine with, and then after a few more days we reintroduced yoghurt & cheese and then went back to regular milk.

Wow I never even know this was a thing! Thankyou for the tips , I’m definitely going to try cut it out and see if that helps. Did your seems to be lethargic?

He’s not eating great to be honest, but different foods everyday, I only one thing he’s having everyday is milk! However he’s sick so sporadically, I have no hope in knowing what it is.

My DS was a bit lethargic but he'd been really poorly with the gastro (ended up needing to go to A&E) so in comparison to that he wasn't too bad. Just feelig a bit sorry for himself and fed up of being sick.
The A&E doctor and our GP told us that if he wasn't eating much in the way of solid food to keep giving him small, frequent bottles of formula until his appetite returned but this seemed to be making him worse so he was vomiting daily for 10 days.
Luckily our neighbour is a critical care doctor and we asked her to have a quick look at him - she suggested we try cutting out all the dairy & formula for a bit and as soon as we did this he stopped vomiting and his appetite came back.
