Community paediatrician and speech and language referral

Looking for some information from anyone who has been in a similar position. DS has been referred to community paediatrician and speech and language following 2 year review from health visitor. Due to limited speech only a few words, limited understanding. Also social and behaviour concerns as not many of those milestones reached, he lacks engagement with others no role play etc. Hes also been reffered to audiology to rule out and issues with hearing. I'm glad he is getting referred to get a better understanding of him and be able to support him in the best way possible. I'm aware we are up against long waiting times. Was wondering if anyone in similar position could share their journey, particularly what to expect at peadtrican appointments I would be really grateful.

We re in a similar position, audiology was really quick and he was seen twice and discharged within 6 months as they were happy with his hearing. Speech and language and paediatrician are 10-11 months in our area so we ve got a few months wait yet.
Honestly all I m hoping for with the paediatrician is for him to be assessed, I m not expecting much support from them beyond that as it ll mainly be short blocks of speech therapy that the NHS can do apparently.

Again the waiting lists are horrendous so we don't know for sure that they ll actually see our son but if your area has a portage service it's worth getting a referal to them too.
