Worried mummy. My 3 week old baby's left eye is smaller than his right eye when his eyes are wide open. I am so worried. Is there anyone who could please offer some help and guidance? We shall be seeing the HV in two weeks time. Thank you for any help.

Are we talking a lot different or slightly? If it's a lot, I think your GP might be your best bet.

Babies are funny creatures though and seem to grow different bits of their bodies at different times.

Can you post a picture - straight on? (just of eyes).

My dd was born without her left hand. As she grew I noticed that her left eye/ear/foot etc were all smaller. Her ear was by almost a centimetre, which at that age was a significant difference.
I asked her consultant.

He said that in everyone one eye/ear/foot would be bigger than the other, and it depended by how much and if you noticed. He said it was totally normal and no one is symmetric. He said once you'd noticed, then you kept on noticing, and then you picked up on other things. But really there was nothing to worry about.

She's full grown now and they're still smaller, but no one has ever commented (except me to the consultant).
