DD 10yo refuses to wear any clothes on her bottom and legs

Please help. My daughter (10yo) has gradually stopped wearing anything except her knickers on her bottom. She refuses even to discuss it. I was advised to expolore different materials and textures with her but we haven't even got to the discussion point as she rejects even the idea of discussing it by saying: "stop, you are making me upset." She has other issues like irritability, oversensitivity which we addressed to a school psychologist and they are being dealt with. Hopefully with support from us and her friends as well she looks less stressed. But certain things like refusing clothes are clearly getting worse. I make her wear tights to school because it's +2 outside, but she would pull them down to almost her knee level and wear them like that under her skirt. I can't imagine it being more uncomfortable to wear them like that as opposed to wearing them normally! But she refuses even to discuss it. It's been going on for quite a long time now and is getting worse. I can't imagine what could be the reason. I would love to take her to a shop and choose clothes she would love but even discussing this makes her hysterical. She hasn't been diagnosed with any developmental problems. The only thing that is not normal is that she wouldn't hold the pen properly and rather hold it with the little finger and the thumb which is very unusual but again since 4yo she refused holding it differently so we just let her be. Can she be autistic? What shall I do? Would refering her via. GP help? The school psychologist said she couldn't duscuss anything with me due to privacy policy. I feel totally helpless.

Hang on, so she wears knickers and she wears a skirt?
I thought from the title that she was naked from the waist down or something!

I remember wearing a torturous pair of tights that, for some inexplicable reason, made the elastic in my knickers agonising on my butt cheeks. I’m 50 & this was in primary school and I can still remember the pain. Could it be something like that?
If she is happy to wear knickers and skirt, would she wear longer woolly socks? M & s do thermal ones from size 3 in adult’s, they may do kids too.

Thank you. Yes, she wears knickers and skirts but doesn't tolerate any tights or trousers. I'm concerned that at school they sometimes sit on the cold ground outside. Thank you so much for the link.

Would she wear cycling shorts at all? My dd sometimes wears those with long socks instead of tights.

I think you should speak to your GP, perhaps a referral to CAMHS would be good. Try exploring different materials by getting cuts offs from a material shop. Allowing her to rub small pieces of material on her thighs at home may be less daunting than going shopping and trying on trousers etc. Good luck x
