So like many other parents I have been stressed out by the ages and stages questionnaire and want to know whether I should be worried.
My girl has just turned 13 months, although was born 3 weeks early. She has an appointment in 2 weeks for the 13-15 month developmental assessment and I've been asked to complete the ages and stages questionnaire. There are a few areas where she is a bit slow (doesn't consistently point yet, no words other than mama and dada etc.) but the one she is scoring particularly poorly for is gross motor.
She cruises well around furniture, climbs well at softplay and has started standing independently for short periods, but will absolutely not allow me to hold her hands to step her forwards (she just immediately pulls her hands away and sits down if I try it) and has not taken any independent steps yet. I wondered how long your babies took between standing unsupported and first independent steps? She's always been fiercely independent (would never let me spoon feed her etc., always had to do it herself) so I think until she can take steps independently she's not going to step at all as she would never allow me to help.
