Hi all,
my almost 13 month old is a good babbler, says mama and dada, but not directed at me or my husband and has no other words, just babbles and shrieks.
She isn’t able to stand independently either. She can pull up to the couch but only when sitting in my lap and she will not cruise along the furniture. Just stands there. She didn’t start crawling until 11 months so she’s been behind with motor stuff. I saw a substitute pediatrician (our main ped canceled) at our 12 month visit and he said we need to monitor her and to come back in a month at 13 months. I wasn’t too worried until he said he wants to monitor her. On the plus side, she points and shrieks at what she wants and her comprehension seems to be pretty good. Like she’ll crawl to a toy if I tell her to get her giraffe/dinosaur/doggy/lion etc. Or she’ll crawl to daddy when I say go get daddy. I’m a bit worried bc most babies might lag in one area but do well in another where as my lo seems to be behind on both language and motor skills. Another thing that worries me is she only imitates a few sounds that I make. Like smacking my lips or panting like our dog and maybe a few other things. Doesn’t say words back to me. Are they supposed to at this age? Am I worrying too much?
Just wanted to see what you all have to say as I feel like that ped is jumping the gun a bit.
