I was putting my DD2 (3 months) in outfits but after I saw my friend had her DS2 in babygros still at 7 months I thought feck it and put her back in gro's. I have to get myself and DD1 dressed in the morning, I can't be fannied with another one as well!
PLus when she is sick I don't have to worry about matching tops, I just replace the whole thing.

Everyone I have seen since I changed her has commented on how lovely and cosy she looks! Most you cna buy are more like oufits today anyway so I wouldn't worry about it

ChasingSquirrels · 23/01/2008 22:50

I used to just put a pair of trousers over ds2's babygrow in the day.

chipmonkey · 23/01/2008 22:54

Before I had children, when friends had babies I bought them nice outfits. Since having children I buy babygros! You can't have too many. I do remember bringing ds1 out one evening and an old lady commenting that he was "all ready for bed!" I didn't enlighten her that he had been wearing that babygro all day![girn]

I certainly wouldn't think anything of a baby of this age being dressed in babygro's - I think it's lovely! They are babies for such a very short time. they're comfortable for them and they look lovely.

I think I judge people more for having tiny babies in little outfits, which to me look uncomfortable and just get all out of place all the time! OK we all need to do cute outfits once in a while but I certainly find it odder for a baby to be in an 'outfit' than a babygro! Go for it!

i used to love ds in his plain white babygro

newyorkdolls · 23/01/2008 23:18

I don't care what babies wear so long as they are comfy and warm. What I do object to is the mere minutes old baby i mentioned yesterday, (slight exageration bynwim)wearing fluffy boots. Why for f sake. They looked like this
I hate tiny babies in shoes. (Twice I have got annoyed about kids foot wear on MN today, could I have a problem? )

tortoiseSHELL · 23/01/2008 23:20

Stick a cardigan on over the babygro if you're worried about it looking like PJs!

prettylovebird · 23/01/2008 23:44

babygrows rule

Flibbertyjibbet · 23/01/2008 23:53

I wish I could put my two in babygrows again

tutu100 · 23/01/2008 23:59

I had day babygrows and night babygrows for ds! Woe betide poor dp if he put the wrong type on him. I, to was worried that people might think he was wearing his pyjamas which is why we has two distinct types of babygrow. Not that anyone else knew that.

It is so much easier just to have them in grows. Don't worry about other people.

TrinityRhinosDhWonHerAnIPOD · 24/01/2008 00:11

I had Gcko in babygrows till she was about 5 months too
everyone thought it was because I was struggling (which I was) but it wasn't about that
I thought they were the comfiest warnest thing to have on

and they look like the little baby they are

You do it for as long as you want to

dd2 who is nearly 3 has one last babygrow that she still (sort of) fits into and asks to wear it some days...and I let her
then if we go out she wears her wellies and coat over it

cheeseontoast · 24/01/2008 00:58

My DD wore babygros all day, every day til she was 11mo. I think they are more comfy than the mini grown up clothes, and she looked so adorable in a white gro and hand knitted cardigan.

Did get some funny looks and comments though

Am sorely tempted to put her back in them again now she is 15mo, as she has taken to shoving her hand down the back of her nappy to show me the contents

SparklyGothKat · 24/01/2008 01:24

Callum is 4 months old and still wears babygros most of the time. I put in him little trousers and a tshirt and jumper sometimes, but he is mainly in babygros.

WinnieThePooh · 24/01/2008 06:12

DD2 is now 15 weeks old and in babygros most of the time. We have got lots of lovely clothes from DD1 but I feel that unless we are going out to meet anyone why have the hassle of putting anything else on.

With a babygro I know that her feet will stay warm, if I put trousers and a top on her I need socks and they are always falling off her feet, which end up getting cold.

evelynrose · 24/01/2008 06:33

I stopped using babygrows at 6 months and, tbh, it was because of pressure I felt from other people whose younger babies were in jeans, hoodies and shoes from almost the word go.
I love babygrows and can't understand why other people don't. They seem by far the most comfy option until they start crawling/walking to me. They just look so grown up as soon as they are wearing clothes.
Now that it's winter and my lo takes his socks off the whole time, I just put some grown up outer clothes on top of his babygrow.

mylittlepudding · 24/01/2008 07:32

I can't remember why I changed to outfits... you sound lovely and sensible, which I probably wasn't. Stuff what other people think!

chipmonkey · 24/01/2008 21:37

I arrived home from work one day to find ds2 aged 2 still in his sleepsuit. I was v. annoyed as I assumed his nappy hadn't been changed either until dh told me he had changed his nappy but had left him in the sleepsuit because he looked so cute in it!

deegward · 24/01/2008 21:49

Totally unrelated, but I used to work at the Babygro factory in Scotland, where they were sown. I loved walking around seeing all the different fabrics and sizes, all this pre children.

We weren't allowed any staples or drawing pins anywhere in the factory, and I remember being taught about how they checked the stitching esp at the toes, so that babies wouldn't lose their toes!!

Indith · 24/01/2008 21:59

Babies belong in sleepsuits and rompers

Ds wasn't in them all that long I suppose. Mainly because i had no money. We borrowed a stack of 0-3 stuff that was pretty much all sleepsuits then I got a bundle of 3-6 off e-bay which at the rate ds used to sick up did not have enough sleepsuits in for full time wear!
