my 9 months old baby is asking question

This is our first baby. Last month she turned 9 months, she started pointing her fingers and asking "what is that" or "what" (in our asian language). She says full sentence. Initially we thought she is just imitating one of us or making sound similar to the question but nowadays she is more clearer on words and indeed she is asking genuine question. We keep answering her but is it normal?

I'd say it was unusual. My DD could sign at 7 months and that was early but speech didn't come for a little while later.
