Hi my little girls who’s 18 month can say m, mama dada yeah tar dirty.
she points to things she wants
makes eye contact all the time
responds to her name
and understands what we ask her to do like find your milk or give me your dodies where are your shoes things like that.
oh and she doesn’t shut up babbling all day long!
should I worry that she doesn’t say more than 5 words?

I'd do this progress checker from the SLT charity, ICan.

It will tell you if there are any concerns and they also have a helpline if there are Wink

If she can say a few words, is using gestures like pointing, and her understanding is good, then I wouldn't worry. There's a huge range of normal when it comes to speech at this age, and if those building blocks of communication are in place, the words can come very quickly when she's ready.

@skkyelark her understanding is really good she knows everything we ask her, I wasn’t worried at all till a family member said there 18 month old was repeating some words and then said to my daughter we need to get you talking.
thank you
