My son loves songs - he's 18months old but still not mastered his first words...

He listens to this a lot -

Should I be worried about songs and speech development?

My son is also 18 months old. He seems to be a late talker but I’m trying not to worry as his communication and receptive language seems fine. I sing to him daily and although he doesn’t say the words he knows everything I say so for example I sing head, shoulders knees and toes and he does the actions with me, same for wheels on the bus etc.

When should I worry? 24months?

Ask yourself the question What Is he doing? Before looking at what he isn’t doing. For example, does he point when he wants something? Does he bring books & toys to you? Can he identify parts of the body etc. No harm mentioning it to HV or nurse if you’re concerned. My son is definitely a little bit behind as each milestone has been slightly delayed but he is progressing all the time, just very slowly!

If you are concerned @WorriedInYorkshire there's a really good progress checker from ICan here.

It will tell you if there are any concerns Flowers
