Sorry I’m new here, My son is 5, when he was born he was very poorly needed surgery right away. It caused a stroke. He appeared to recover well. But in the long run he started to change and was diagnosed with autism and sever global developmental delay when he was just 2. He’s 5 now usually he’s a bit like this…. Doesn’t talk, attacks other children by clawing and biting, will occasionally attempt to run off, doesn’t sleep well, is on medication for that, at school he doesn’t do well and has never done a full day because they say he becomes disregulated. His EHCP has only just been finalised and he is staying a new school in September a specialist setting. I hope he will blossom there.
in the last week things have been very bad with him. He escaped out of the house when my other child left unlocked a middle door (we always lock the middle door as he can’t open that and escape) I noticed he was missing within 2/3 mins as I was in the bathroom, I ran around the streets my partner got in the car, we found him in our local corner shop behind the counter eating sweets, they know him there and kept him safe for me. However a man was there who said he ran Infront of his car and he was just 3 inches away from hitting him at 30mph. So his grandma said she will take him for a few days to give me a break as she always does. She took him to the park like she usually does and he enjoyed the park and running around freely (it’s enclosed and he can’t escape) however on their way home she says he climbed out of his pushchair and ran across a very busy road and was almost hit by two cars coming from both directions. He then proceeded to have a melt down and pulled over his grandma so he could run away. Thankfully her friend happened to be passing and saved the day. Iv picked him up early and I’m at my wits end about this and don’t know why he wants to run away from his family. I am scared about how bad he can get as he grows older and bigger and stronger if he’s 5 now and can pull his grandma over who is 55 and 5’8 and we’ll built. We do have help involved. We have an early help plan with the school, speech therapy, he has 2-1 at school at all times as he attacks other children or runs away. Has climbed over a 6ft fence at school. I just don’t know what to expect next. Why it all has to be this way.
i would like to know I’m not alone and maybe someone has been through this and how they coped with it all. How they stopped their child from doing all of these things.
if anyone can offer advice
