Worried DS going to be extraordinarily tall

He’s lovely and I’m not heightist!! Just worried. He’s 13 and 6’4”

Things like train seats, and clothes, are becoming a problem. He is getting a bit anxious too: he volunteered this, not my doing.

How likely is it he’ll grow more now? Not that it can be stopped, obviously.

Any experience? I’m 5’7 and his dad is 6’3

Most boys will grow a good few inches after 13, but there are exceptions. What were the growth patterns of you, his father, and your siblings like? For example, my father's family has a pattern of early growth, so my dad was 6' at 12, but only grew another inch. Another thing that could give a clue is looking at the size of his hands and feet –do they seem in proportion, or does he still need to grow into them?

Thanks, that’s interesting. I stopped growing at 11, not sure about his dad.

He’s generally very big, and has size 13 feet…

Anyone else got experience of this?

I think that there's a genetic component to this so best ask his Dad. Both of my sons did most of their growing at age 14/15. They are about 3 inches taller than their Dad. They had friends who started growing earlier and later so it's hard to generalise.

My older ds was one of the shortest in y6 while my younger one was always average ish.
