Are the tantrums due to too many days at nursery?

DD 3.5yrs has been attending nursery for past 18 months. Dropped her nap 8 months ago. Was always fine on 2 full days (Tues, Wed), came back happy enough, sometimes shattered but we would miss the bath and do early bed if too tired.

Past month we’ve put her up to 3 full days (Tues, wed, thurs) but since last week we’ve been experiencing some epic tantrums at the end of the week (thurs/Fri). Sometimes 30-40 minutes of screaming. Not had this before.

Everything I’ve read online says tantrums are caused by tiredness or hunger.

I’m having massive mum guilt that the third day is making the tantrums happen as she’s too knackered. Im 38 weeks pregnant so we upped her days 6 weeks before my due date so when baby comes I’ll have an extra day with baby.

Wondering if I need to change her days? Eg do Tues, Wed, Fri so she gets a rest day inbetween? Or do I pick her up at 4pm everyday instead? As I’ll be on mat leave so able to do that.

Wondering if anyone else has experience of this and what worked. Or if this is just par for the course with a 3.5 year old.

Thanks.

She could be seeing other kids having tantrums and is copying . In a year or so she’ll be in school full time . Buckle up the first few months of that is crazy.
