My ds1 is fantastic but he walks so incredibly slowly and it's driving me a bit crazy. We live what for me is a 10 minute walk from school, but it can take 50 minutes with him if he walks. We usually bring the scooter but he's sometimes quite fussy about using it, like if the pavement isn't super smooth or if it's raining (!) and then he expects us to tow him along by one hand. We also have a buggy board but using it means we have to push the buggy from one side (as the handle doesn't extend) so it gets tiring after a while. What I'm wondering is whether I should push him to walk more and get better at it through practice (and if so, what can I do except nag/drag him along by the hand/offer endless sweets as incentives?) - or is this just making work for myself when he will maybe get faster on his own? BTW I'm obviously not expecting him to walk at adult pace, just with his legs moving at more than an agonising dawdle.
