Bedwetting alarm - can anyone share their experiences?

DS is 9 and has never been dry at night. We're under the eneruresis clinic and now on our 3rd week with the small alarm that clips inside the pants at night.
Out of the last 21 days we've had 7 dry nights, 3 nights where he has wet twice and the rest just one waking.
There have been a handful of nights where he simply does not wake to the alarm at all. The rest he is waking, but has already finished passing urine.
The nurse I spoke to had the expectation that by week three he would somehow be magically waking before the alarm as his brain should have figured it out by now. She didn't really talk through what we do if he doesn't respond to the alarm.
It would really help me if anyone could share their experiences, especially less straightforward ones.

His dad and I both have chronic illnesses that are impacted by sleep disruption too, so we're pulling together to work as a team on this but the thought of another 9 weeks of this with no resolution is not a happy one.

Just came across this post and wondering how your ds got on? Did the alarm work? My ds was exactly the same as yours in that he'd never had a dry night and had been on the highest dose of desmopressin for over a year with no impact. We decided to try a bedwetting alarm (against the advice of the paediatrician) and it was like a miracle for us. The first couple of nights he woke as he was starting to wee so he got up to the toilet then since then no wet nights. He is still on the desmopressin so it will be interesting to see what happens when we start to reduce that once we've had our next appointment. Hope things got better for you x
