8.5 month old always seems frustrated / unhappy

My little man seems to be constantly frustrated and I'm not sure why, trying to be patient but it's super hard.

He can crawl and pull himself up on things but constantly whines and shouts most the day.

He sleeps well overnight now and has 2-3 naps a day, so wouldn't thing it was tiredness.

Is this a phase that people had a similar experience with? 😅

He does has reflux, but has had this since birth and has never been this unhappy since he was super little.

Yes. You have my sympathy because it’s exhausting. My DS was horribly unsettled from 0-4 months (colic/reflux). It got a bit better from about 5-8 months, but he was so angry from about 8 or 9 months onwards. I have to say it didn’t really go away until he could walk (and talk) at 15 months. But he was a very late walker, hopefully yours walks before then!

The good news is he has been an easy toddler ever since (now 20 months). Cheerful and sociable and outgoing. It’s like he needed to master walking and a bit of talking for his personality to come out. His language is way above average which has helped - I felt like I near constantly talked to him as a baby to try and soothe him, which might have helped.

No advice, but just solidarity. My DS is also 8.5 months and the last week or so has just been incessant whining. He can be entertained for about 60 seconds and then it starts again. It doesn't help that a) he is at the frustrating rocking and moving backwards but can't quite crawl yet stage and b) we have had covid so have been stuck inside. He is also a good sleeper and eater though so just keep hoping it is a phase that is over quickly!
