Nearly 4yo suddenly adding O onto to the end of words

My Ds is suddenly adding o (Ow) onto the end of words. This is very recently but seems to be getting more frequent (eg more words are being said in this way) and I have no idea why. Some examples from today:
Nanna-Nano
Yes-Yo
Ever-Evo
Dinner-Dinno

These are all words are he previously could say fine, his language skills are pretty good he has a large vocabulary.

If for example he says Yo I will repeat you mean yes and he looks at me like I’m mad and says yes. So it is really like he is not aware he is doing it or has no control.

What is going on in his little head? Help!
