Can clingy toddler sense a change is coming?

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my 2.4 year old has suddenly become extremely clingy with me, won't let dad do anything, wants to sleep with me despite his dad offering to sleep on air bed in his room it has to be me, which obviously isn't ideal as I'm huge. I can't even go to the toilet without him following me. He's also started waking up 3/4 times in the night. It's quite stressful because we're trying to get him into a good routine for when baby is here, he's never slept through the night which I really hoped he would be doing by now. Is this normal behaviour like can he sense something is about to change? I'm not really sure what to do... I hope it changes once baby is here because it's going to be double as stressful otherwise.

Yes, all perfectly normal. I can remember DC1 being the same and I was listening to Josh Widdecombe on Parenting Hell the other day saying that his DD's behaviour was the worst it's ever been in the month before DS arrived.

Congratulations on your PG. not long to go now! Thanks
