So my DS has adhd and add. He hasn't been coping with a medication change and has been difficult to manage at nursery. The knew about his condition upon taking him and I explain he sometimes struggles with cooperation and gets very overwhelmed. I have just started a new job. He attends from 3.30pm- 5.30 pm after attending his special needs school. They have now said if he can't ' control his demanding behaviour he can't come as they can't provide a 1-1. I suggested that I pay extra for a member of staff to be his 1-1 at cost, they said 'probably not'.
No point to this really I'm just so upset as I have started a new job. He has attended there for 3 years and they have only just decided he can't go with a weeks notice.
I just feel like shit, I'm busting my ass to work and get my degree, DP works away and lives away. It's just me for 4 days/ nights in the week so this is my only option to keep my job and degree.
I just need a handhold really Sad

That sounds really tough, I’m sorry. I don’t have any advice but I’m sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon. In the meantime stay strong and sending solidarity x

That sounds really shit, I am so sorry. Is there any chance of a part-time nanny for him? Staff at your DS's school might know someone who could/would do this kind of work. At my DS's school (mainstream) one of the TAs also did out of school childcare for kids with additional needs.

You might get some more practical suggestions if you post on one of the MN Special Needs boards.

PS also keep your university tutor aware - a lot of universities will make adjustments or let you suspend studies for a term or a year to manage emergencies like this. Flowers
