14 month old kicking and screaming - am I alone?

Hi,

First time mum and feeling a bit defeated!

My DD is now 14 months old and just wow! I feel such an idiot for thinking the difficult stage was when she was a little baby.

My DD just seems to kick and scream all day and with running on next to no sleep I’m honestly starting to feel a bit defeated 😫 if you stop her from doing something that’s unsafe or whatever then she just honestly kicks and screams for ages. She’s got a ridiculous amount of toys but she’s just interested in everything else. I get this - kids are curious but the pure kicking and screaming every single time you say something or move her away to something else is just gah! Also, when having to do a nappy change again she just kicks, scream, twists and whatever else to the point where it’s almost impossible to do a nappy change by myself.

Is this a normal stage and I was just a bit oblivious to parenthood or do I have a bratty or just a unhappy child? If so, any tips because the crying and screaming what feels like all day is a bit overwhelming now.

Thanks!

Hello OP,

Yes.. I’m afraid it’s normal for this age !and it’s to do with the temperament your child has.. some are just quite strong willed from an early age and get quickly frustrated ..but she must feel very secure and loved by you to be able to behave like that so feel good about yourself 😀... being really on it about daytime naps will reduce all this for you and you’ll get a bit of a break too... does she nap well?
