Anyone had a DD on 99th percentile height and weight?

My dd now 19 months shot up the 99th after few weeks (born at 50th). She was EBF so I carried on as I was. I am only 5'5 and petite, my husband 6 ft.

She is now huge compared to her contemporaries. It's not just height, her while stature is big. She looks like a 2-3 year old. Her feet are closing in on her 3.5 year old brother's. She is wonderful and so strong, mobile, fearless at climbing, running, falling. We are so lucky to have her. But I can't help but worry about the future when she's is head and shoulders above her peers. We will raise her with self confidence, and make sure she does not see size and appearance when she looks at someone, rather personality (my husband is amazing at this, he is literally blind to anybody's appearance)... but, any stories of people whose daughters are this size would be appreciated. Do they feel set apart from their peers as they get older?

I have one on the 99th for height and 75th for weight- where she's been all her life and she's now nearly 9. BMI is only 54th percentile though so as long as your DD is in proportion I wouldn't worry.
As for now - she is gorgeous. Lean, strong and sporty and competing in swimming and netball because her height and strength give her the advantage. She's proud of being tall and strong and doesn't have a hang up about it. She is kind, hard working and clever which also matter very much and if other kids have ever said anything about her height she's never been bothered.

Oh also my DH is 6 foot and I am 5'6 so similar to you. My younger DS is also v tall

Not me but DN has always been in the 98th for both. She's now a very tall and beautiful 16yo. She carries it with pride Smile

Thank you both. That's positive to hear!

@Musication, your daughter sounds fabulous

@CautiousOptimist11 she is!! (No bias of course 😜). Your daughter will also be fabulous, you have to have tall and small kids in order to create the average!

My girl will be 3 in October and she’s in the 90’s for both height and weight. I’ve just bought her size 10 shoes and she wears age 4-5 leggings. She’s a good few inches taller than other children her age. She's incredibly active and my plan is to just embrace it, continue to give her loads of opportunities to exercise / climb / be outdoors etc and not get hung up about the numbers. She’s very much in proportion and a healthy strapping girl. She eats a good varied diet in the main. I feel like my job is to help her grow like a beautiful plant with lots of sunshine and good nutrition! To embrace the diversity and give her a good foundation of self esteem.

OP we have a 2yo DD in the 90th percentile for both, and only today she was towering over a 2.5yo boy. I say, great! Of course there may be tricky times here and there but it’s down to us to help, as you say. The only example I have is my lovely grandma who was “very tall” for her generation, and ended up marrying a man shorter than she was, (the horror!) but what’s important is that she was an amazingly strong and kind woman.
