I have a feeling from my childhood its "no ball games" when it comes to a playground.

I dont have boys so i dont know the rules but whats the general consensus?

What do you mean by a playground ?

  • I would use the word for the tarmac area the children play in at school but I have seen it used on here to mean the park ?

What does 'having boys' have to do with it ?

Nothing wrong with it. Kids can play football in any field or park unless it’s private property they’ve gotten on to or there’s a sign up I guess. Anyone who has a problem with it should have a think about being thankful kids aren’t getting up to worse. Now if they are kicking balls at kids or breaking things that’s anti social behaviour and not foot ball and the police should be called

Hi @curiouscamel,

I am of the belief that if there is no sign regarding ball games, we can assume that it allowed.

I would just briefly remind the children I am with to play nicely and not kick the ball too hard if there are cars passing by. If the ball happens to go out of the park area, to inform an adult who is supervising them to retrieve it. I definitely would not let them retrieve it themselves unless it is a very quiet area with no fast cars.
