14 month old - dummy for sleep and eczema

Hi
So my 14 month old DS uses a dummy to get to sleep and still wakes at night to take it again if it falls out. However because he has developed eczema in the last few months I put mittens/socks on his hands which stops him scratching. (He wears a sleepsuit so can’t scratch his skin but I think it’s a habit to scratch/rub. As soon as he has the mitts on he won’t scratch/rub) I’ve tried gloves but they are too easy for him to pull off.
Problem is he can’t pick up his dummy at night to put it back in with the mitts on!

Is it best to wean him off the dummy completely?
(Initially I only wanted to use it to get to sleep but have been using it more in the daytime.)

Personally I'd look on it the other way around and tackle the eczema first. Have you had any allergy testing?

No, no allergy testing.
Used numerous creams and finally found one which is effective for most of the night. Itchy again by the morning though.

I'd ask the GP to refer to the allergy clinic for testing. If it is an allergy, and you manage to eliminate the allergens, you'll probably find that sleep improves massive anyway Smile
