Usually when they have something he wants. I’m confused, he hasn’t seen this at home at all so I don’t know why he does it. Is this a normal phase children go through or should I be worried?

Yes it normal phase, you will need to work closely with nursery to manage the inappropriate behaviour
Children are different at nursery, different stimulation, other kids, staff
Your wee boy will be fine, nurseries deal with issues like this weekly. Take their advice

I can totally relate. My 2.5yr old is constantly on nurseries 'thinking mat' because he's pushed his friend. I think its because they are learning to share, negotiate and express themselves.
I do not envy nursery staff!
I talk to my son about what I like to see e.g sharing and kind hands for a little consistency.
My son remembers that he has pushed someone and can tell me why which is usually for 'not sharing' aka - he hasn't been given the toy he wants there and then!
