What's your experiences? How long from standing unassisted to walking?

I have gone through the Google results but would just like some up to date experiences (overthinking ftm!).

Rather unexpectedly, my 12m DD stood unassisted for about 10 seconds before sitting down. So now I'm wondering if this is the start to her first steps.

Shes a bit of a chunk (98 percentile) and a shortie (between 9 and 25 percentile) so I was honestly expecting it to be a while until she started getting there.

If its of any relevance, she pulled up to stand at 7 months and started crawling a couple of weeks later.

None of this is mumbragging(?), I think my daughter is gloriously average Grin

I think it varies massively! Ds could walk before he could stand unassisted (little weirdo). He used to pull up and then just walk off confidently and as he hardly ever fell over he ever needed to stand himself back up! He started doing it about a month after he started walking....

Haha, that's amazing! I guess if they never stop then realistically there is no need to know how to stand still.

I am just enjoying watching my DD grow up and it's just amazing to see how often she learns how to do new things.

Perhaps I should be thankful that she isn't a walker yet, as that soon leads to running...

Mine started standing unassisted at 9 months . He would do it from a standing position already and let go of what he was holding into and could stand like that for about 30 seconds . He started taking his first steps at 10.5 months and walking properly by 11.5 months . It was only after walking that he could go from sitting to standing unassisted though .

All came very thick and fast for my DS. He was crawling at 7/8 months, pulling up to standing and cruising along furniture by 9 months, then seemed pretty happy getting around like that for a long time (helped that we were inside the house a lot because of lockdown, so there was a lot of furniture for him to hold onto).

Then at 13 months he let go of the furniture and stood by unsupported for a few seconds and within a week took his first steps by himself. There were another a couple of weeks when he would try and walk everywhere but if he fell over he'd need to pull back up on furniture or if he wasn't near enough to anything he'd just crawl. Then he worked out how to stand up by himself, and now he's 15 months and running all over the place!

So, they're all different but yes you might find your DD starts walking soon now Smile
