How can I encourage my child to wipe his own backside?

He is eight. Still refuses to deal with his own backside after a poo. If we say he has to and refuse to do it he will absolutely meltdown and there is a stand off that could go on for hours. So I wipe his bum 🙄

I honestly don’t know how he will ever take this job over. His poos do tend to be loose, they always have been, so obviously that doesn’t help as the times in the past we have encouraged him to wipe he’s ended up in a nasty mess. So of course now he won’t deal with it at all.

Anyone in a similar situation?

What does he do at school? Just not go?

Yep. He doesn’t go. He has trained his bowel movements to coincide with home.

What about getting some wet wipes? That could be easier for him to do. You'd have to have a bin to put them in which would be a bit gross though. Maybe if that works then later on you can tell him if he keeps using them he has to empty the bin himself.

Hope somebody comes along with some lived advice!!
