Anger in young children - anyone come out the other side?

I’m feeling worn down. Our 7 yo DS is really hard work and we are struggling with his anger. Literally nothing is said to us in a calm voice, he is rude, sarcastic and physically aggressive (particularly to his little sister). The lashing out at his sister is my biggest worry as we obviously need to safeguard her, but what is going on with our little boy?

I’m a teacher of his age group. I’ve read the books. I am pulling out all the strategies but reaching the end of my tether! He has always been hard work but is also bright, funny and creative. He can be such great company but, my god, he is testing us.

Spoke to GP today who has suggested family therapy type stuff.

Has anyone been through this and come out the other side?

I’m sorry you’re going through it too @NoKnit. I think the lack is sport is really affecting DS. He normally plays football 3 x a week, rugby, swims. He really doesn’t have enough outlet for all his energy. Plus ive had covid so we have all been trapped indoors again 😔
