22mo dd shoplifted! Totally accidentally and entirely my fault. Wondering around the shop with buggy, no arms free for a basket so piling things on the hood etc, gave her a couple of things to keep her quiet. Further down the shop I noticed that she wasn't holding them any more so assumed that she had dropped them, and went back to get replacements. Paid, left, was walking up the street when - you guessed it - dd digs under the foot muff and pulls out the missing items!

My dd took a t-shirt of a shelf in H&M once when she was about 18 months old. My husband had her in the pushchair and was horrified when he pushed her out the shop and the alarm went off - expecting store detectives to descend on him at any second he rushed back into the shop to hand it back and was told it happens all the time.

Oh all this sounds so familiar! DD started her 'habit' at age around 16 months, that's when she was steady and fast on her little feet! First time we came out of mothercare and spotted a little book in the bottom of the push chair. Way too embarrassed to take it back. Then she tried the same at Tesco's - with some bangles, but this time we spotted it. Now she usually holds any item out to the cashier but needs reminding...

Also did the bog roll 'trick' accidentially. If I'd done it on purpose I'd probably would have been way too nerveous
