4 month old trying to roll over and cries in sleep with eyes closed

My DS is 4 months old and just started trying roll over (i think its the first step for rollover - just started turning and moving his leg cross - not sure though!). He used to sleep on his back but for the past 3 days, he gets up every hour crying. When i see him his legs are crossed and his face down (only face) and cries in sleep with his eyes closed. I tried to soothe him and put him back to bed but the same thing continues every hour. I dont know what to do to have him a good night sleep (and me). I tried to keep him on my lap he sleeps well but I couldn't.

Anyone exp this or any suggestions?

Maybe try and teach him to roll over during the day? Or readjust him rather than fully picking him up?
My girl had the same thing but it was only like once a night, not every hour.

I tried to readjust him but he started crying loud. So had to pick him up and console.

Today i tried practising him to roll over when i roll over him he stays in tummy for like 2-3 mins then rolling over to back by himself. Seems like he dint like the tummy time.
