4 year old meltdowns, worse with a particular friend

Hi,

My daughter is almost 4. She gets upset very very quickly and easily, eg. Dropped an acorn, friend wouldn’t hold her hand, falls over (but not hurt), too hot, too sunny.

She will have a full blown melt down over the smallest things and is very hard to calm down. It often comes out of the blue and she goes form 0-100 instantly, shouting and crying.

I’ve tried validating her feelings, encouraging her to take deep breathes with me, removing her from the situation.

Preschool have said she doesn’t do it there. We do a lot with my friend and her daughter and the girls are very close. Tantrums seem to be worse/more frequent on these days.

I find myself feeling embarrassed that it’s always my child. None of my friends children of the same age have such strong responses to these situations. She is highly emotional.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
